The Pupil Parliament are being elected this week so more information will follow.

Meet the Eco-Bees!

The Eco-Bees are our school’s Eco-Committee, a passionate team of pupils and staff dedicated to making a positive difference for our planet. As environmental leaders, we inspire our whole school community to care for the world around us through exciting projects, practical actions and everyday choices that help create a greener, more sustainable future.

We are incredibly proud to have achieved Eco-Schools status in 2026, recognising our whole-school commitment to sustainability and environmental action. This achievement celebrates the hard work of our pupils, staff and wider school community in making lasting, positive changes for our environment.

From promoting recycling and reducing waste to saving energy, planting for wildlife and encouraging everyone to look after our school grounds and the planet, the Eco-Bees believe that every small action counts. We work together to share ideas, lead by example and help our school become a place where people and nature can thrive.

Our Eco-Code:

We promise to care for our planet every day, in all we do and all we say.
Together, we are growing a brighter, greener future—one buzz of kindness and one eco-friendly action at a time.

At Mulberry Baird Primary, one of our key values is Connection. Connection with each other in school, as well as the community around us is really important in building our sense of purpose and belonging.

Our Community Connectors are working with a local care home, connecting generations through building friendships, sharing stories, strengthening our community.

Intergenerational relationships have been shown to boost mental wellbeing, cognitive health, and social cohesion across all age groups. Interacting with elders builds patience, emotional intelligence, active listening, and conflict resolution in children. Mixing with a broad age range helps to prevent negative stereotypes about aging and frailty, or youth and inexperience, fostering a more inclusive society.

Young people are able to gain wisdom, historical perspective, and stability, while also passing their own knowledge and skills back to their older counterparts. Our Community Connectors exercise high levels of empathy and strong communication skills during interactions, while our senior friends experience reduced loneliness, sharper memory, and renewed purpose.

Direct engagement lowers rates of depression, anxiety, and social isolation in older adults and it gives seniors a drive to nurture the next generation. Teaching, storytelling, and playing games activate different areas of the brain, helping to support memory retention and offering exposure to different levels of energy and activity in young people.
